DALLAS, October 6, 2021 / PRNewswire / –
What are the news? AT&T * will work with Frontier Communications to bring fiber optic connectivity to large corporate customers outside of AT & T’s current footprint. The two companies have signed strategic multi-year agreements that will also support the deployment of AT & T’s 5G mobility network.
Why is this important? As the demand for advanced computing and 5G networks grows, so does the need for resilient fiber optic paths for a connected society. Businesses need more bandwidth to move data quickly. By working with Frontier, AT&T will be able to offer large enterprises high-speed, low-latency, and highly secure connectivity in markets where it does not have a fiber network or is not currently considering building one. .
What do AT&T and Frontier offer? AT&T is building additional fiber on its cable footprint and plans to reach approximately 2.5 million additional customer locations by the end of 2021 and 30 million locations by the end of 2025. The fiber network AT & T’s enterprise allows broadband connections to more than US $ 2.5 million. commercial customer locations from September 30, 2021. Nationally, more than 9 million commercial customer locations are within 300 meters of AT & T’s fiber optic.1 This year, Frontier announced a new strategy for Build Gigabit America. At the heart of this strategy is an aggressive fiber expansion plan that will cross 10 million locations by the end of 2025. The company plans to make fiber available to 600,000 new locations in 2021, which will translate to approximately 4 million fiber locations crossed by the end of the year. This agreement will allow AT&T to quickly reach additional locations using Frontier’s complementary fiber network. Together, the two companies will enable high-speed connectivity to large corporate customers within Frontier’s 25-state footprint.
Who can use it? AT&T will be able to use Frontier’s fiber network to help reach enterprise customers in Frontier’s service territories reaching 25 states. AT&T will also use Frontier’s network to bolster the nationwide rollout of the country’s best 5G network2 and, for the fourth year in a row, America’s best wireless network.3 In addition, AT&T will leverage Frontier’s Ethernet network to enhance connectivity between cell phone towers and the core network.
What are people saying?
“With Frontier building its own fiber network where we don’t build, we’ll be able to work together to provide large business customers with the high-speed, low-latency data connectivity they need to grow and prosper.” , said Scott Mair, President, Engineering and Network Operations, AT&T. “As the demand for broadband connectivity increases, we will be able to connect to the Frontier network to support businesses and help grow our 5G mobility network for consumers. “
