signCatch, the retail tech startup, launched its decentralized sell-side platform Bech.app on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) in August.

SignCatch is known for launching some of the industry’s most revolutionary FinTech and RetailTech products and Bech.app (Bech stands for “sale” in Hindi) is no exception.

SignCatch’s decentralized sales platform for MSMEs Bech.app launched on ONDC

It should be noted that SignCatch built Bech.app as an open platform where other MSME-focused digital service providers such as insurers, lenders and banks were invited to integrate with Bech and to offer their services to millions of untapped sellers across India. They have already partnered with major logistics aggregators like Shiprocket, global payment aggregators Worldline, Razorpay, supply chain credit providers ePayLater and SAP to provide end-to-end digital commerce solutions to all sellers listed on their Bech platform.

“The integration of SignCatch’s Bech as an ONDC vendor app and also as a technology service provider is in line with our efforts to bring small and micro non-digitized retailers and wholesalers across India, directly to the ONDC network. We look forward to working closely with the SignCatch team to digitally empower small sellers in India’s Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities,” say it ONDC MD and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) T Koshy.

ONDC,a Section 8 Company, is an initiative of the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, aims to democratize and decentralize the e-commerce ecosystem in India. It is designed to foster open, unbundled, and interoperable open networks, eliminating dependency on a single platform.

Spearheading the retail revolution that will shape Indian and global SME retail in the near future, SignCatch is one of the first companies to have begun integration of their multi-utility seller-side platform Bech.app on ONDC.

With multiple buyers facing platforms such as Paytm, Dunzo, PhonePe, major telcos and banks, the integration with ONDC opens up a huge opportunity for sell-side platforms such as SignCatch to facilitate more customer orders. for merchants using their flagship SuperApp Bech product.

SignCatch finalized onboarding formalities to join the network early last month and teams from both sides are in the process of completing the vendor-side technical integration required for their pan-India launch.

As Bech is a decentralized platform, merchants can choose different service providers of their choice on Bech to enable end-to-end omnichannel commerce on their smartphones – for both B2B and B2C transactions. This is quite different from centralized e-commerce marketplace models which do not offer merchants the freedom to choose third party service providers such as payment gateways, supply chain finance and delivery partners from their choice.

The Bech Platform currently caters to over 50,000 MSMEsand this will enable sellers from over 100 cities and towns across Indiaon the ONDC network with this launch.

Unlike established SMEs that already have a digital footprint and have transacted in major e-commerce marketplaces, SignCatch’s goal is to onboard 20,000 small and micro sellers across India, most of whom would be the first to adopt digital technology, on the ONDC platform at the end of this year.

With Bech.app, SignCatch is proactively creating a democratic landscape in India’s $900 billion retail market which consists of around 75 million MSMEs, of which around 30 million are small and micro retailers and wholesalers.

Sumit Duggal, Founder and CEO SignCatch said, “Our effort is to create a level playing field for small and micro sellers in India. The Bech app is compatible with all MSME retail verticals and as a compliant platform ONDC, it caters to various categories of sellers including – hardware, groceries, mobile, electronics, apparel, agricultural products and tools and many more.

He said that small brands, wholesalers and retailers on Bech.app will be able to receive orders from buyers through the ONDC partner network while accessing third-party services, such as – instant loans, supply chain credit, digital payments, integrated delivery solutions and much more on this Super App.
