What Street Fighter 2 Did For The Fighting Game Genre, Super Smash Bros. did the same to inspire platform fighters to become an expansive subgenre in their own right with variety beyond Nintendo mascots.

Longtime Pro Liquid Smash |Dabouz recently released an exciting new tier list ranking all major Smash/Platform fighters from best to worst, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is not among those at the top.

In fact, there is only one official Smash game in the “best of the best” tier being Super Smash Bros. Melee, and even that only reached number 3.

The best platform fighter ever in Dabuz eyes is actually Project+/Project M mods for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which made the game more Melee-like and added a bunch of new content that is still seeing updates now.

As for Smash Ultimate, the contender puts the new entry a tier below the top, but you might be surprised to see Super Smash Bros. for Wii U above (until you remember it’s Dabuz).

MultiVersus is the latest big platformer to hit the scene, and Dabuz thinks it’s more than okay but not as good as what PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Smash 64 had to offer.

It ended up ranking 20 different games in total, including Rivals of Aether, Brawlhalla, Rushdown Revolt, Nickelodeon Allstar Brawl, Slap City, Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion, and Fraymakers — but not Shrek SuperSlam.

You can check out Dabuz’s full list of platform fighters below, where he specifically rates them on the game’s total package and not just gameplay.
