A former teacher is to appear in court over abuse allegations after being accused of abusing three students.

Former Education Department co-ordinator Lina Costanzo, 51, appeared in Adelaide Magistrates’ Court today on three counts of persistent child exploitation.

The alleged abuses allegedly took place between 1989 and 2002.

Ms Costanzo’s defense lawyer told the court the 51-year-old planned to plead not guilty to the charges.

According to court documents, Ms Costanzo had sex with the three victims when they were under the age of 17.

One victim was allegedly abused over a five-year period from September 1990 in Glenelg, while another victim was allegedly abused over a 10-year period from 1992 in Glenelg.

Court documents said Ms Costanzo allegedly “committed two or more unlawful acts with or to” over a five-year period from February 1989.

One of those offenses allegedly involved Mr. Costanzo sharing pornography with the victim.

The three victims are said to be two men and a woman.

Magistrate Briony Kennewell took the case to the District Court and Ms Costanza is due to appear in court in October.
