jio 5G is now coming to the Nothing Phone (1)! Nothing just rolled out the latest Nothing OS update that supports Jio’s standalone 5G network. Jio’s Sa 5G flavor relies entirely on 5G infrastructure and uses 4G LTE infrastructure for coverage, therefore data speeds are expected to be much faster than those of Airtel 5G. Now users of Nothing Phone (1) can get support for Jio 5G on its devices.

Latest Nothing OS v1.1.6 update brings the ability to support Jio 5G network and therefore, users with Jio’s latest welcome offer for its 5G services can access 5G networks in available areas. The update makes Nothing Phone (1) one of the few devices to support Jio and Airtel 5G networks.

Nothing Phone (1) has Jio 5G support

Along with Jio 5G network support, the Nothing OS v1.1.6 update also brings several other fixes and improvements. Users also receive support for Google AR Core, which should help with all Augmented reality services of Google on the device.

Moreover, the update also brings some fixes to the device. Video recording is now said to offer sharper output with improved stability, and the video recording LED light is always on by default, when you start shooting video.

There’s also no promise of a smoother UI, more accurate battery status, increased brightness with HDR content, a new Flip to Glyph animation, a few updated sound effects, and a few other bug fixes. Note that the update weighs only 62.04 MB and is available as a free OTA download.

Note that Nothing has yet started a beta trial of its Android 13-based update. The company originally said that the Nothing Phone (1) would get the Android 13-based Nothing OS beta in December 2022 and eventually be upgraded to a stable version of Android 13 by January 2022.
