India’s multilingual microblogging platform Koo App has recorded 50 million downloads with a surge in users, time spent and engagement since January this year. With a high adoption rate in terms of installs and average time spent over the past two months, the platform continues to drive digital inclusion among native-speaking citizens of India.
Celebrating the milestone, Aprameya Radhakrishna, CEO and Co-founder, Koo App said, “We are very happy to cross the bar of 50 million downloads. This validates the demand for a multilingual social network built with an India first product mindset of seamlessly including language speaking Indians in daily thought sharing. Our rapid growth and adoption is a testament to the fact that we are solving a problem faced by a billion Indians.
Currently Koo is available in 10 languages including Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Assamese, Bengali and English. There are over 7500 prominent voices, millions of students, teachers, entrepreneurs, poets, leaders, writers, artists, actors, etc. who actively post in their native language to celebrate festivals, culture and rich heritage on Koo App.
Added Aprameya“There is huge potential for future growth. There are approximately 80 million internet users in the country, the majority of whom wish to speak their native language. Their sharing of thoughts is limited to closed groups and known people and cannot be freely expressed on the Internet and discovered. We are proud of our mission to be inclusive and enable freedom of expression for 90% of native speaking Indians. As we move forward, we will continue to invest in our technology and continue to build the platform with a user-centric mindset to build digital independence for native-speaking users in India and across the world.
As an inclusive platform built around a language-first approach, Koo’s mission is to connect like-minded users in the language of their choice. Features like MLK (Multi-Language Kooing), language keyboard, topics in 10 languages, language translations, editing features and free self-checking make the platform unique and provide its users with the freedom to engage in meaningful conversations. In the near future, the platform aims to announce more product features as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the user experience.
