The Mahindra Inglo EV platform offers a multi-sensory driving experience with augmented reality and 5G network
Mahindra has officially unveiled its all-new Inglo EV platform which will split into 5 e-SUVs under 2 EV brands showcasing the company’s vision for the future of electric mobility.
The 2 brands of VE are the XUV with the Copper Twin Peak logo and the electric-only BE. The XUV brand will build on Mahindra’s existing heritage while embracing the future. The BE brand, meanwhile, will have a whole new design language.
The 5 e-SUVs include XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. The first 4 of them are to be launched between 2024 and 2026. Common to these SUVs is the new Heartcore design philosophy retaining Mahindra’s SUV heritage with good off-road capabilities.
The Inglo platform, according to Mahindra, offers industry-leading safety standards, exhilarating performance, excellent range and efficiency, exemplary driving dynamics, versatility and intelligent HMI.
It also offers a multi-sensory driving experience with a futuristic head-up display compatible with augmented reality, an edge-to-edge screen, 5G network capability and OTA updates.
The deck is scalable and offers a significant reduction in underbody weight, making it one of the lightest skateboards around.
Mahindra said its EVs will follow a common battery pack design with lightweight modules and standardized cell-to-block technology using 2 different cell architectures – Blade and Prismatic.
Offered with options ranging in capacities from 60 to 80 kWh, the batteries are protected for a fast charge of 175 kW and a charge time of up to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
A compact all-in-one electric motor-inverter-transmission integrated into a single unit forms the powertrain. Offered with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options, outputs are 228-282 HP and 335-389 HP, respectively. The claimed 0-100 km/h time is 5-6 seconds.
According to Mahindra, the powertrain is optimized to deliver class-leading range with the added benefit of an intelligent electronic braking system that offers best-in-class recuperation potential.
Improved aerodynamics, reduced rolling resistance with 5.5 RRC tires, sophisticated zero-drag wheel bearings, high-efficiency HVAC system and best-in-class low-voltage power consumption contribute to overall efficiency , the company said.
The e-SUVs benefit from a semi-active suspension system with high-power dual-pinion steering system. Brake-by-wire technology is completely decoupled from the hydraulic system allowing multiple braking modes for pedal feel and recovery.
Those behind the wheel will appreciate intelligent drive modes that govern various aspects including modulation of powertrain response, suspension response, braking feel, electronic stability control intervention and more. other features at the push of a button, Mahindra said.
All e-SUVs will come with a structural cage around the passenger cabin specially designed to reduce passenger injuries. The body-in-white front design is enhanced with 3 load paths and a multi-piece dash with brace.
Battery protection is provided by ultra-high strength boron steel. The new e-SUVs will be tested at the world’s largest battery development and testing center. With an ADAS 5 radars – 1 vision architecture, Inglo is future-proof up to L2+ autonomy.
eSUVs feature slim cockpits and a flat floor to create generous and flexible interiors to control seating configurability and space versatility, such as trunk and trunk storage. Thanks to the vehicle-to-charge (V2L) functionality, cars can be transformed into a portable power bank.
Mahindra claimed that the Inglo boasted a complex neural network of embedded intelligence that performs millions of reactions and decisions per second.
Moving to a centralized computing structure with 3 high-performance computers, it provides an integrated computing platform to be deployed down to the micro.
Inglo leverages the cloud seamlessly by implementing integrated 5G network capability and keeps vehicles looking like new through over-the-air updates (SOTA and FOTA).
The latest chip systems from global semiconductor vendors help bring semiconductor wafer processes to the latest technology nodes: 200K DMIPS computing power through a dual octa-core processor and delivering 1920x HD resolution 720 pixels.
