Perth and surrounding suburbs woke up to a smoke warning this morning with a thick fog of smoke blanketing the city.
Health officials have warned residents of Perth that the smoke could trigger pre-existing health conditions and could reduce visibility on the roads.

According to the WA Bureau of Meteorology, a “cover” was created overnight as a result of an atmospheric inversion, causing smoke to remain caught just above the “surface” of the city.
An official smoke alert was issued for Perth and Peel on Monday evening following a number of scheduled burns in the south-west of Western Australia.
Residents are urged to keep their windows closed and avoid using their air conditioners whenever possible.
Those with pre-existing health conditions, including asthma, should be prepared to execute treatment plans.
The smoke should have cleared this afternoon.
