Vodafone Idea (Vi), the country’s third-largest telecom operator, provided the best upload and download speed to users in India, Opensignal said in its report. The data collected by Opensignal covers the period from December 1, 2021 to February 28, 2022.
In addition to this, Opensignal said that Airtel is the leading telecom operator in delivering the best video experience, gaming experience and voice application experience to users. Jio bagged the main telecom label in five categories which are – 4G Availability, Availability, 4G Coverage Experience, Consistent Excellent Quality and Basic Consistent Quality.
So, in India, in terms of consistency and coverage, Jio is the best option for users. If you’re looking for the ultimate speeds, Vodafone Idea is a good option. In the overall experience, Airtel is the best option.
Trust Jio behind Airtel and Vi to deliver high 4G internet speeds
According to data shared by Opensignal, Vi was the winner by providing the best upload and download speed experience to users. Airtel was in second position while Jio was in third position.
This could be because Jio has more active users than its competitors, and therefore the risks of network congestion are greater with Jio than with any other telecom operator in the country. According to data shared by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Vi’s active user base has been declining for consecutive months. This could be the reason why Vi’s networks could offer the best upload and download speeds as the network load would be much less compared to what Jio’s and Airtel’s networks are facing.
In the voice app experience, Airtel was in the lead, but Jio and Vi weren’t that far off either. Airtel scored 78.1 points, while Jio and Vi scored 77.9 and 77.2 points.
But a good mobile network is not just about high data speeds. Other factors such as network coverage, gaming experience, etc. matter a lot today. In these areas, Vi couldn’t do much.
Each operator is ahead in one area. In contrast, only Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) did not lead any position in Opensignal’s report.
