Since its launch in India in 2019, YouTube Music has become one of the most popular music streaming platforms in the country. Despite stiff competition from its rivals, YouTube has carved out a place for itself with the widest range of music offerings. While many apps are limited to artist originals or label albums, this Google-owned app offers a wide range of cover songs from different singers, giving it an edge over the rest. Moreover, it has audience playlists, which allows you to make a public playlist according to your taste.

Users also have the option of downloading the music to their device and accessing it when offline. Additionally, the smart download feature allows the app to automatically download music when you are connected to an unlimited service. Additionally, these downloads can be moved to your SD card (if supported) to save your phone’s internal storage.

How to Set Up Youtube Music Downloads to SD Card and Smart Downloads

Step 1: To get started, tap the profile icon in the top right corner of the app, then navigate to “Settings” in the account menu option.

2nd step: In the Settings menu, tap “Library and downloads”.

Step 3: Here, enable Show files from device option to download music to SD card.

Step 4: Enabling the Use SD card option will automatically enable the smart download option, then you just need to drag the slider for “smart downloads” to the end, which will allow automatic smart downloads up to 500 songs.

Step 5: You can choose to limit Smart Download as needed to any value between 1 and 500 songs.

Once you enable the smart download feature, the YouTube Music app automatically downloads your favorite/most listened to song. Moreover, the app will also estimate the songs you might like and quickly download them whenever you are connected to an unlimited Wi-Fi network. If you don’t like any of these auto-downloaded songs, you can remove them by simply long-pressing the song and clicking “Remove Download”.

If you want to download certain songs or take them offline, just like videos on YouTube, you can do that with individual tracks and playlists. If you want to download a single song, just tap on a song’s three-dot icon and tap “Download”. To download an entire playlist, just long press on the playlist, when you come across it, and tap “Download”.
